KAOPLATE 13

For coatings applications, KAOPLATETM 13 is a delaminated clay that helps improve the rheology of the paint system and reduce cracking of the paint upon drying. KAOPLATETM 13 also improves the opacity of the paint system and enamel hold out. This product is most suited for water-based paints and coatings. In plastics, this high aspect ratio, high surface area product is ideal for plasticized PVC. KAOPLATETM 13 provides good rheology control without negatively affect processing stability, reduces plasticizer migration in the final article, and is an effective white pigment. The platy nature of the kaolin clay is ideal for offering improved mechanical properties compared to other inorganic fillers. KAOPLATETM 13 can be used alone or in conjunction with OPAMAXTM 16 as a means to reduce the TiO2 loading.
